So, I Accidentally got a WRX Pulled Over Tonight...

Yeah...My bad? Sit around kids and adults, K-Roll's gonna share a story of sheer luck and stupidity that just happened an hour ago. In short(if you don't wanna read below), WRX messes around with me, I play along too aggressively, cop pulls WRX instead of me. My actions were bad, and I should feel bad. :(

So I was driving home from my friend's house after discussing cars and WW2 History(one of my hobbies). I decided to take Woodward even though it's technically out of the way from my house; Woodward is just fun any time of the day for me. As I'm rolling down the road, the sound of a boxer engine and a turbo's blow-off valve gets really close to me; out of nowhere, a blue WRX sedan pulls next to me and slows back down, and repeats this until we get to a red light. Now I'm tired and not really in the mood for someone wanting to do a quick pull on the very empty stretch of road that was Woodward, but I say "Fuckit" and I hadn't done anything fun today so when the light turned green, I slowly took off, and sped up quickly.

Before I know it, I'm doing 80 in a 45, and the WRX is keeping up; I was having too much fun. He let's up seconds before I let off the gas. By this point, I'm doing 50 and coasting when I see the reds and blues behind me, and I'm thinking, "crap, finally get my first ticket -_-". Now, it should be established that while I'm generally smart, safe, and cautious driver, with the ST, I do tend to let my inner hoon out when no ones around, like tonight; and can you blame me?(of course!) The ST is such fun car and as many times as I've knocked on wood and haven't been pulled over when I should have been many times in the past few months(I'm very good at going well over the speed limit at times), I knew that this time, I deserved it for doing something clearly irresponsible, as my heart sank and I began to slow down even more. What I didn't notice, was that the lights from the cop car were about five school bus lengths behind me and the WRX was pulled over. Boy did I feel shitty about that, as I knew it was my fault(both of ours really). :(

So I turn onto the first street and hide in a dark neighborhood for a couple minutes, before I head on home. Knowing that the WRX driver had to be on the local Facebook car group page, I checked to see if he posted about it, I had planned on asking if he was on there and apologizing; but he beat me to it and gave me a very capitalized "FUCK YOU BLUE ST ON WW". I quickly explained my side of the story on how I thought he was toying with me and I was ignoring him up until that light. Luckily, he only got off with a speed violation and the best part that made my night, he told me that when he was talking to the cop the only reason the cop went after him and not me, is because where he slowed down once he saw the cop way before me, I just coasted down to a reasonable speed and I was too far to be worthwhile to catch at that point.

Yes, I did kinda fuck up tonight, and I do kinda feel bad about it and there's some regret, but it happens right? It could have been worse, that's for sure. If I was running the Stage 1 tune(which I had taken off just before I went to work this morning), I could have chirped the tires into 2nd gear and that would have been enough to get me pulled over rather than the WRX.

Lesson: Have some fun while your driving, but don't overdo it and stay safe on the roads my friends.

I'm off to bed, I may repost this in the morning, but for now, I'm getting my flame-resistant pajamas.

I would say keep the hooning to the back roads, but the first time I got pulled over was on a back road doing 67 in a 45. Got off with a warning. Or if your in Florida, just get a dumb friend to get behind you and continue your way to 140, because as long as the car behind you is doing lower than that, you are doing what you are supposed to do in the left lane now in FL, not impeding traffic.

The problem is that there aren't any back roads where I am, and if there are, they're too far away to even be worth driving to. I live in a very suburban/urban area with no hidden roads for hooning to my knowledge.

Yeah, but I felt guilty and wanted to apologize; I didn't want to hide either. There are only two blue STs in the group, one was ruled out before I got to it. It was only a matter of time before I was called out. So I did what I thought was the right thing and apologized. We kinda worked it out after that.

That's kind of my problem, there are a few open roads, but none of them are that secluded. The few back roads north of me are decent and turn into the rough, like I like them, but that means it limits my fuel range. Once 4WD is engaged my MPG's go into the lower mid singles, so I can't go very far on them because there are no gas stations out there. I miss the Tennessee Valley! Roads are closer, windier, faster, and they are closer to I65 which means gas stations. Or I just need to find a way to put a bigger fuel tank where my absent spare tire goes.

The ones for me, that are secluded, run through a minor neighborhood and is located in an area known for cops on weekends. Freeway is the only real "safe" place.

Just going to point out - you knew what you were doing by going on woodward on a friday night. Local advice - Around 1:30 to 2 is when the cops like to be dickholes. I liked to hide out in IHOP when I had my riviera. I also drove a grandpa car so when the cops came out, I'd go into the right lane, throw on a turn signal, and make sure to show the "ugly" side of the buick. Not a single cop ever gave it a second look. My friend had tuned a VUE V6 AWD and he'd do the same as me........not a cop alive is going to think a saturn VUE and a buick with a turn signal stuck on are street racers. At least, not when a G35 with a flamethrower exhaust and unpainted bodykit are nearby.

My friend has a supercharged E46 M3 and a completely stripped (engine is stock besides additional cooling) E36 M3. That thing is a FEATHER. We went out one night and he let me take the E46 while he took the E36. There's a road near my house that used to ALWAYS have races going on, but that mostly died down. We got to a red light and just wanted to do a quick pull to see how a gutted E36 M3 on R compounds would do against a blown E46 M3. I smoked him but he was surprisingly close, I was doing about 95 in a 45 when we saw the blue and reds.

Did I mention we live in Virginia?

He got busted for 81 in a 45, reckless driving, and I got away clean. I took the backroads back to his house and we kept the E46 in the garage for a good 2 weeks.

Oddly enough, my friend wasn't mad at all. He's one of the best drivers I know, on and off the track, so this was a one time thing for him. He fought it in court and just had some community service to do besides a average sized fine, which I paid for even though he didn't want me to.

Spot on actually. I was actually heading south on Woodward at 12 mile when this happened. I love that IHOP over there. I always figured that cops would be more lenient on the empty roads at night. I always had this mentality that no one had pulled me over yet because I'm driving a Focus, and it held true up until tonight. Not that I was pulled over, but this was the closest. I've got some damn good luck with this shit as I've been told.

Once, a cop went after a GTR at 13 and WW doing way over the limit at midnight, he gave up and pulled a speeding Camry over. :P

There is a cop that hides religiously in this spot.

It is about 50 yds from where the speed limit increases from 45 to 55, or where it decrease from 55 to 45 if you are going north. He sets back in this little false road about 20 ft., so there is no way to see him unless you are parallel with the road. It's crooked as fuck.

I hate it when cops do shit like that. So wrong, just park on the side and if they see you, then they'll either slow down or speed up; either way, if you catch them, you profit.

I learned in the Audi to stay away from corvettes. Not only are they obviously wicked fast in a straight line, but woodward vettes are driven by the worst drivers. I was pulling out of a gas station when I saw one use the u-turn lane. The driver decided to be cute and drift when coming away from the stop sign. Well he lost control and would've smashed into me had I gone forward and assumed he would stop.

I actually really hate woodward now lol. Too many d-bags, too many ricers thinking they're "racing" and too many cops for not enough fun.

Yes, I've only started going to Woodward since January, and I've been told it was much better in recent years. This year was hell on earth for us with ROPD probably giving hundreds, if not, thousands of tickets in the months leading to the Dream Cruise. All the Vettes here are indeed wicked fast like you say, that's for sure.

Also, what Audi? And were you at a Speedway by chance when this happened? Because it sounds like it to me.

It was my Audi 200. And it was the speedway on north near maple. This was about three days after I had picked it up so I had to re-ziptie the coolant tank in the engine bay and patch up a coolant hose.

I don't know about all states, but in a lot of states, they legally have to be in the line of sight of the driver. So technically a dash cam could get you out of a ticket... if this were a perfect, uncrooked world.
